Girls Make Games / LearnDistrict Camp Sickness Guidelines
Last Updated: April 27, 2026
GMG is committed to ensuring your child has a safe environment to learn and play this summer at our in-person camps. To ensure the safety of both children and staff, GMG will observe relevant CDC and state guidance as practiced at local schools. We will also follow state guidelines closely over the coming weeks and during Camp dates to ensure compliance with regulations and safety requirements at Camp.
Please note, our host sites reserve the right to enforce their own health & sickness policy protocols that supersede GMG’s policies. Any updates to these protocols will be communicated with families the week before camp starts.
We also ask that you keep your child home if they are showing signs of illness. A healthy camp environment depends on everyone’s cooperation.
I. When to Keep Your Child Home
Please do not send your child to camp if they exhibit any of the following symptoms:
Fever: A temperature of 100.4°F or higher. Children must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication before returning.
Vomiting or Diarrhea: Must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning.
Respiratory Symptoms: Persistent coughing, shortness of breath, or heavy nasal discharge.
Bacterial Infections: If prescribed antibiotics (e.g., for Strep Throat), the camper must complete a full 24 hours of treatment before returning
Contagious Conditions: Symptoms of pink eye, undiagnosed rashes, or head lice.
General Malaise: If your child is too lethargic or unwell to participate in outdoor activities and daily programming.
II. Return to Camp
Campers can typically return to camp once they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication.
III. If a Child falls sick at Camp
If a camper develops a fever or other symptoms during the day, a GMG staff member will work with them in a supervised quiet area. Parents or emergency contacts will be notified and are expected to pick up their child within 1-2 hours of notification.
III. Refund policy
GMG does not offer refunds in case of partial tuition due to illness. We are unable to offer refunds, credits, or "make-up days" for absences due to illness.
We appreciate your understanding in helping us keep our camp community safe and active!
