BWF Game Showcase
This summer we were thrilled to be able to bring our flagship summer camp to a couple of rural sites in North Carolina for the second year in a row! This was made possible thanks to the amazing Burroughs Wellcome Fund and incredible SparkNC, DC Virgo Prep Academy and UNCW staff. It’s outstanding programs like these that allow us to reach more and more kids each year and show them how fun game making can be.
In just 3 weeks we were able to:
🚀 Connect with 43 students across 2 schools districts in Elizabeth City and Wilmington, NC
💻 Deliver game development mentorship from industry experts across North America
🏫 Train college students and young professionals to teach and inspire our campers
🎮 Create 10 fully playable game prototypes using Construct 3

Quotes from Campers:
“I love video games and the fact I got to make one was insane!!! I really like gmg camp and I will definitely be signing up again if y'all do this camp again” - Vera, 10
“What could help me decide [my career] was all of the speakers so I could get inspired by them.” - Justus, 9
“The best camp experience yet. Most camps I go to suck or everyone is racist or homophobic but this one was very accepting and I loved the counselors! - Camilo, 16
“It makes me feel comfortable, showing that girls can code anything.” - Camraun, 12
Quotes from Parents:
“I could say so many great things about this program…. from the counselors to the Director, the communication, the logistics and the program itself are excellent. The safe environment, the inclusivity, respect and how much knowledge they get in such short period of time is amazing. ” - Josette, Mother of Brianna, age 16
“My son enjoyed his time at camp. He wants to come back again next year. He said the best part was building the game. As a parent, GMG offered a great opportunity for my child to learn more about coding, graphics creation and teamwork. I will continue to recommend the program to other parents.” - Marie, Mother of Liam, age 9
